Statement of support for Beth Stroud and Chris Paige
06 Dec 2004
|
We're grieved by the recent decision of the United Methodist Church to defrock Beth Stroud from serving as a pastor because she is a lesbian in a loving relationship. MLP stands in solidarity with Beth and her partner, Chris Paige. Chris has served as the editor of The Other Side magazine, and her home church is Tabernacle United Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, a More Light church. Chris' parents are Carolyn and Ron Paige, longtime MLP leaders.
We also stand in solidarity with the Reconciling Ministries Network, our sister organization working for the full inclusion of LGBT persons in the United Methodist Church.
