Resources to help you facilitate dialogue and discussion
about "The Congregation"
| "The Congregation" premieres Wednesday,
December 29, 2004, 9:30pm-11:30pm. Check
your local listings. PBS will probably also provide various re-broadcasts
that may provide additional viewing opportunities. And DVDs will
be available from the filmmakers in the near future.
It's easy to put together a simple viewing party! Just invite neighbors, family, friends, and/or co-workers over to watch the show and have a conversation. It doesn't have to be a big gathering or complicated project. One-on-one relationships are the most effective way to reach people! If you will be facilitating conversations in a more organized setting (such as a church discussion group), you may want to consider some related resources that may be helpful... |

This is the website for the film-makers, Susan and Alan Raymond. They have a variety of supporting material on that site, including music and video clips, transcripts of interviews, and additional articles related to the film content. Check their on-line store for DVD and VHS ordering information. |

The PBS website is built with discussion and dialogue in mind. It includes video clips from religious people around the country reflecting on their own experience, as well as articles on a variety of topics including social ministry/outreach, youth ministry, interfaith dialogue, and pastoral leadership. PBS has developed a substantial viewer's guide -- designed to help viewers dialogue about the role of religious institutions in America today. It is posted (in PDF format) at: http://www.pbs.org/thecongregation/discussion/ |

Some of our colleagues have prepared a few additional questions to help viewer's reflect on the issues of faith and sexuality raised by Beth's story. We offer these as a supplement to the PBS guide viewer's guide.
